Since emerging from Birmingham in 2017, Rookie have infused the sound of modern indie rock with 80s-style alternative and pop music, creating a combination of cutting vocals, hard-hitting riffs & foot-stomping stage shows. The band, influenced by: Nothing But Thieves, The Kooks, Sea Girls & Green Day, have established a loyal fan base and secured their place within the UK indie rock scene. Rookie released their latest single "Criminally Underrated" on 29th January 2021, which was produced by Roy Stride (One Direction, 5 Seconds of Summer, The Vamps, Scouting for Girls, McBusted) and Alex Oldroyd (Sea Fret, Jack Curley, James Blunt, Kaiser Chiefs). The song has seen a positive response, with over 3K Spotify streams within a week of its release and receiving air time on BBC WM Introducing, where radio presenter, Alex Noble, described it as a 'Strong Track.' Criminally Underrated has also been added to This Feeling's "Best New Bands" playlist on Spotify and has had its live debut, with the band performing in Sucker's "Lockdown Week," live stream.'If you like to jump up and down with pint in hand, then don’t.
