room19isaFactory. is a research and critique-driven architecture studio and digital platform from Johannesburg, South Africa. In community, and through ritual and mythology as worldbuilding knowledge systems and practice methods, we work to build the most comprehensive unlearning platform of the modern spatial practices that maintain land- and building-as-property, toward metabolizing new spatial futures, or what we term ‘unreasonable architectures’, which are architectures that operate beyond modern reason’s scope of meaning and economic measurability. Through digital critiques and provocations, conversation boards, built works, publications, the curation and design of exhibitions, and organizing and moderating of live events, we enable the reclamation of deep reflexivity of, about, and within the architecture profession.
