Rosenfeld Kidson & Co. Ltd is a specialist timber merchant and importer, incorporated in 1930. We stock New Zealand’s largest range of over fifty species, both imported and locally grown. We distribute to the construction industry, joiners, furniture manufacturers, cabinetmakers, boatbuilders, and flooring contractors throughout New Zealand, primarily via selected reseller merchants. The company was incorporated in 1930 when Julius Rosenfeld, an Australian, and John Kidson formed a partnership to import hardwood from Australia. New South Wales hardwoods were in demand during the depression years for wharf and bridge construction as well as power reticulation. For the next 65 years the company operated its business from premises in The Strand, Parnell in Auckland before moving in 1996 to new purpose built premises in Mt Wellington - an site with drive through warehouse and another of covered storage. There is also a sales and warehouse facility in Hornby, Christchurch from where we distribute to our South Island customers. As Rosenfeld Kidson approaches 85 years in business the company is now in it’s fourth generation of ownership and operation. The success and longevity of the company has largely hinged on the efforts and experience of dedicated and loyal staff who are able to provide our customers with a wealth of knowledge about the specialist timbers we sell.
