Rowntree Clark are art dealers and advisors in 20th Century British Art, with a particular interest in 1950s and early 1960s abstract gestural painting. We bring a genuine passion for the subject, with a strong art historical bias, combined with a knowledge of the market that can be invaluable to both the experienced and first time buyer. In turn, this has given us the pleasure of helping build a series of wonderful collections by brokering the sales of some of the great works by British artists in the 20th Century. Established in 2009 by Edward Clark, we have developed a reputation for handling and presenting works of a distinct aesthetic, and uncovering the very best examples of the specific British Modernists that interest us, artists such as Peter Lanyon, Robyn Denny, Sandra Blow, Roger Hilton, Gillian Ayres, Richard Smith, Harold Cohen, Patrick Heron, Paul Feiler, Bernard Cohen and William Scott.
