Royal Variety Performance

There isn't a show in the history of show-business, nor indeed in the history of television, that compares to the Royal Variety Performance. First presented in 1912 at the Palace Theatre, London, to just 1,200 people, it now reaches over 152 million television viewers around the world each year, making it the longest-running and most successful entertainment show in the world. The show is presented as a live theatrical production, usually from the Royal Albert Hall in London, and is the annual fundraiser of the Royal Variety Charity, of which His Majesty King Charles is the sole-Patron. The charity aids and assists people who work, or have worked, in the UK entertainment industry who are in need of help and support as a result of financial hardship, mental health issues, or old age.
