RumaFeed is a Seed Trait Company, Our customers are seed companies and verity owners. Because of the toxicity of Nightshade family plants foliage (potatoes, tomatoes, etc.) around 35% of these plants' biomass, the foliage, is destroyed - wasted. This also includes the use of hazardous herbicides. What more, potatoes used in the industry for starch and protein, require quite a few washing cycles to remove the toxin. By removing the glycoalkaloids, we want to help potato growers and potato processors make more money from their crop without spending additional money. Our low glycoalkaloids potatoes allow growers to use the foliage of the plants as an additional, protein rich, food and animal feed source.
