Safestride

SafeStride, Inc. is a nonprofit organization passionately dedicated to fostering safer, more harmonious public spaces. We recruit volunteers to attend, patrol, and surveil public areas to increase presence, enhancing community safety. We operate on the guiding principle that a heightened presence of vigilant individuals in communal areas—such as parks, trails, and other public zones—acts as a powerful deterrent to potential verbal or physical threats. These threats, which manifest in forms like catcalling, harassment, and other unwanted advances, disproportionately target marginalized groups including women, people of color, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and other minority communities. However, it's essential to recognize that no one is immune; such behaviors distress and impact anyone, regardless of background or identity. Leveraging the power of AI, we enhance our operational initiatives and tangible community impact, embodying our commitment to societal beneficence. Through partnerships with local schools, we offer students valuable service hours, safety training, and internship opportunities, empowering them to contribute meaningfully to community safety and engagement. Our purpose is twofold: to ensure every individual can enjoy public spaces with peace of mind, and to empower students to play an active and vital role in community elevation.
