Sage Environmental Group
We are a fast-growing woman-owned firm that specializes in environmental planning, regulatory permitting, biological resources consulting and habitat restoration. Sage is proficient at synthesizing issues associated with sensitive environments into workable solutions without ignoring stakeholder concerns or compromising environmental values. Our subject matter experts have two decades of experience conducting CEQA/NEPA technical studies and preparing environmental documents. They have negotiated and executed regulatory compliance permits utilizing a solid working knowledge of the requirements of federal and state regulations. Our effective negotiation skills result in successful permit processing in a timely and cost-effective manner. Our wildlife biologists hold USFWS and CDFW permits to conduct protocol surveys, implement relocation and avoidance plans, perform construction monitoring, and handle sensitive species. Our botanists, restoration ecologists, certified arborists, and landscape crews manage restoration planning, design, installation, maintenance and performance monitoring. Sage has niche expertise in wetland, riparian and upland habitats. We develop, design, and implement restoration and mitigation plans uniquely tailored to support project-specific objectives and encourage use by sensitive wildlife. Our unparalleled track record of successful regrowth at the 10-year milestone has provided critical habitat for sensitive species while allowing construction to move forward. We utilize innovative bio-engineering techniques including unique water retention, topsoil salvage, seed collection, and imprinting methods that contribute to long-term success. Sage holds a C-27 landscape contractor’s license and utilizes highly trained crews that have expertise in the identification, removal methods, and level of significance for over hundreds of exotic species. We are registered with the CA Dept of Industrial Relations. Additionally, Sage holds a CA Department of Pesticide Regulation License and key staff has a Qualified Applicator License in categories A B C D E F to conduct herbicide eradication of undesired plants. Conservancies and fire authorities in Orange and Los Angeles counties are using our herd of goats to suppress non-native grasses and fire fuel load with good success in wildland/urban interface areas and open space. Our professional staff, who plan and manage the grazing program, have over 20 years of experience in environmental planning, regulatory permitting, habitat restoration, and vegetative management. The work that our goats perform is managed from an environmental science and regulatory compliance BMP perspective. Targeted grazing is conducted to meet regional/local conservation plan goals.
