Sangeetcar

Hello Music Lovers! Welcome to India's first youth-led folk music archive. Sangeetcar is an organisation which is dedicated to archiving, reviving and preserving dying folk music in India. We are quite literal to our name, we pack industry-standard equipment in cars (microphone, cameras, generator, drinking water, etc) and drive off into the most rural parts of the country. We believe that topography plays a major role in folk music, due to that we record the artists in their natural habitat, their homes, their villages or wherever the artist would like to perform. All artists are paid in cash and kind for their work and contribution. We not only record the artists but also actively try and find them a platform for performances as an audience is an important part of an artist's soul. We're out here trying to save our heritage, come join us on the journey down a historical lane.
