Save World Art
Save World Art identifies indigenous art forms that are under threat of extinction. We provide advice and guidance and in concert with the community, we develop projects that will promote the health of the artists and their community and support the performance and production of their art. We measure our overall success by the continued production and vitality of the artistic output. Our founder, Helena de Crespo, came upon the Reasmey Angkor Bassac Opera Company in northwest Cambodia while performing in Asia in the 1990s. In the wake of the disastrous Khmer Rouge regime the Company was working to revive performances of their ancient traditional opera. The company was starving and Helena solicited funds from international sources for food, medicine and to construct a performance space for them in North West Cambodia. She has continued to support the Bassac Company as well as other indigenous artists' groups. In 2012, Save World Art confirmed its position as a charity with the tax accreditation of a 501(c)3 non-profit organization to continue and expand her work.
