Company History: Founded in 2003, born from innovation and research. After three years of dedicated research into the effectiveness of Marine Mammal Observers (MMOs), Scanning Ocean Sectors was launched to raise the standard of offshore environmental training worldwide. The foundation of our flagship MMO course was built in collaboration with leading experts — Dr. Peter Evans, Dr. Ben Maughan, Dr. Ed Harland, and our founder, Yvonne Miles. Our very first training program was trialed with the Royal Navy, where it proved so effective that it helped shape their operational approach. From those pioneering beginnings, we refined the course through extensive research outcomes, ensuring every element had practical application in the field. Standardisation for excellence.
