Scanpower owns and operates the electricity distribution network that serves the Northern Tararua region, delivering power to around 6,800 customers across Dannevirke, Woodville, Norsewood and the surrounding rural communities. We’ve been part of this region for more than 100 years, and as a community owned business we remain focused on providing a reliable and resilient network for the people who rely on us every day. Our Contracting Division provides specialist services to partners, other network owners and operators across New Zealand. Established in 2003, the division has grown into a capable, nationwide service provider delivering electrical and infrastructure work. Based out of Feilding and Ōtaki, our teams handle design, construction and maintenance for overhead and underground reticulation, new developments and major project work. Treesmart was formed in 2005 to support the vegetation management needs of the network. What began as an internal team has grown into a specialist utility arboriculture service operating from a dedicated depot in Mangatainoka, with an additional presence in Palmerston North. Treesmart now provides a full range of arborist and vegetation management services to support our own network, other electricity networks, councils, landowners and commercial clients. Oringi Industrial Park was developed by Scanpower to bring new life to the former Oringi Freezing Works site and create long term economic value for the district. Today, the park is home to a range of businesses that contribute to local employment and support the wider regional economy. An additional six hectares of land beside the park is also available for future development, providing space for new commercial opportunities as the site evolves.
