More than 30 years ago, Premier™ started with the idea to teach students how to plan. Back then, a notebook that recorded your agenda and kept your important dates organized was enough. Today, in the 21st century, students are faced with innumerable technological distractions, demanding social itineraries, and increasing information overload. According to research studies, the 21st century requires individuals to be flexible, creative, self-directed, and self-managed. These studies state that workers must be prepared to be effective, independent planners. They must also be well organized and manage time wisely. An agenda is no longer enough. Instead, our company—today known as School Specialty Planning & Student Development—designs planners, tools, and strategies that prompt students to build deep skills that will help them engage with the world on their own. We are also changing—incorporating new technology as it becomes available, routinely cultivating fresh partnerships, and constantly seeking ways to support educators more thoroughly.
