Founded by Bernhard Schott in Mainz in 1770, Schott Music became home to world-famous composers such as Beethoven and Wagner who entrusted their works to Schott; today we publish masterpieces by composers such as Hindemith, Orff, Tippett, Stravinsky, Ligeti, Penderecki, Takemitsu, Henze, and Reimann. By strongly encouraging and supporting young composers, we fulfill our cultural mission and attract the public's attention to the contemporary music repertoire. Our programme covers the whole range of musical life – of teaching and learning, playing and listening, reading and studying. Schott Music has committed itself to spreading and promoting classical and contemporary music by publishing sheet music, books, CDs, DVDs and magazines.
