Screen Nation is a film & television content and event production & marketing group with a focus on amplifying opportunities within the Black British, W. African, and African-American media marketplaces. It operates various UK-based companies under the Screen Nation banner and seeks to move much of its work online and into an App. The UK arm, Screen Nation Media, is recognised by leading British industry brands, such as Film London, BFI, BBC, ITV, Sky, BAFTA, and many others, as a leader within the black British media sector. Through its not for profit arm Screen Nation Foundation, it has a commitment to celebrating screen excellence within the Black British and global African Diaspora via its two awards platforms, the Screen Nation Film & Television Awards affectionately described as the 'Black BAFTA's' and the Digital is Media Awards. Screen Nation Foundation also has a commitment to Black Screen Heritage and with the support of the BFI and a BAFTA Gift of the Academy, it has created the UK's first and only Black British Film & TV Hall of Fame. Screen Nation is led by Charles Koblah Cheata Thompson MBE, an award-winning Ghanaian born film producer with over 30 years experience in the UK and international film industry as a producer, executive producer, media entrepreneur, international film festival founder & director, film curator, reality TV judge and awards platform founder & CEO. Screen Nation has produced multiple successfully distributed short films, TV and feature films made by both emerging and established Black British and W. African talent. Screen Nation counts multiple firsts in its history and is highly respected across the industry with strong networks within the established and emerging Black British film, TV & digital media professional sectors, even helping secure Green Card status for many well known famous actors.
