The platform acts as an educational resource shares the world’s seafood stories through radical transparency and authentic storytelling. Seaside with Emily’s mission is to foster knowledge sharing, storytelling, and appreciation for seafood by collaborating with visionary leaders in sustainable fisheries and aquaculture to tell these global seafood stories. It’s owner Emily is a Portuguese-Canadian fisheries scientist and social media content creator, science communicator, TEDx speaker, seafood marketing strategist, and world traveller. Her creative experience covers many areas including writing, social media marketing, graphic design, video production and editing, photo editing, blog writing, email management, and public speaking. Pair with her post-secondary education in fisheries science, research experience with organizations such as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the International Institute for the Environment and Development (IIED), and award winning science communication skills, Emily has been able to engage seafood consumers in an engaging and educational way that gets them excited about eating more seafood, while learning about the important role that seafood pays in our seafood systems. Emily creates engaging content on seafood to educate the general public on seafood and engage industry professionals on thought-provoking topics. She manages a blog, an email list, various social media channels, and hosts in-person engagements with her following. She has worked with some of the biggest seafood companies in the world as well as companies in the food, travel, agriculture, and wine industries. Seaside with Emily is widely recognized as the go-to destination for information and resources on sustainable seafood - both for seafood consumers and seafood industry professionals.
