Securad Inc
The company is working towards the creation of a global deep geological repository for used nuclear fuel in North Eastern Canada. This is a challenging and major project. The company's founders have chosen this part of Canada in the Canadian shield where the rock formations are at minimum one billion years old. Since there have been no tectonic movements in that sqm. area for the past 360 million years, the repository should be safe well beyond the one million year being sought. The location chosen for the repository will make it accessible by sea. This will allow most of the used nuclear fuel to be transported by waterways rather than land based transportation making the whole process a lot safer. There are many countries around the world that do not have the appropriate geology to build a deep geological repository that would be safe for one million years. Securad plans to offer such countries the ability to dispose safely of their inventory of used nuclear fuel The company does not intend to take the Canadian used nuclear fuel since that segment is being pursued by a corporation mandated by the Canadian parliament.
