Self-Directed Services Consulting

Self-Directed Services Consulting supports Minnesota counties, contracted case management entities, Managed Care Organizations, Financial Management Services (FMS) organizations, Information and Assistance (I&A) providers, and others to understand and operationalize self-direction in their respective role. What is self-direction: Self-direction is a service offered by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and designed by the state. The participant (or their representative) is responsible to decide who, what, when, how and where their services are delivered, wherever natural life takes the participant. These services are offered under a spectrum of control where the participant (or their representative) is the employer of their workers instead of an agency being the employer of the workers. This service is designed so when the participant becomes the employer, they have information and support from specific entities such as a Financial Management Services provider and an Information and Assistance provider.
