Transepidermal water loss (TEWL) is not a new phenomenon. It has been studied and practised for over 35 years. It has, however, been restricted to the field of research or non-clinical uses in the cosmetic industry. Now for the first time, a medically certified TEWL device is available to healthcare professionals, allowing the knowledge gained from these studies to be safely used in clinical environments.
