Our mission is to save and improve lives by building lights that are brighter by design. It all began in 1986 when our founder Alex Pratt OBE designed a specialist sewing light for Singer Sewing Machines. Having established an enviable industrial reputation, events at Serious took on an unexpectedly personal turn when Alex took on the hardest brief of all - designing the ultimate personal reading light for his mother. From there, production expanded into specialist lights for machine tools. In recent times we have made our technology and new products available to consumers as reading tools for use at home. We have now sold over Serious lights in 63 countries around the Globe. Our individual customers number many doctors, surgeons, MPs, opticians, judges, academics and royalty. We are proud to be the only reading lights to be recommended by over 400 Independent Opticians in the UK. Improving performance through the application of better light has always been in our DNA.
