Sett Institute

Since its establishment in 1986, SETT has been the cornerstone of statewide efforts to prevent violence, alcohol, tobacco and other drug (VATOD) abuse. Over the last eighteen (26) years, SETT has learned significant lessons about what works in prevention among high-risk youth. SETT has educated and trained over 3,500 peer educators, given more than performance awareness sessions, conducted some 1500 workshops, and sent the prevention/intervention creed to a documented diverse audience of youth, parents and others from the minority population and beyond. Emphasizing alternative choices to alcohol and drug use, SETT helps establish positive self-images, promotes academic achievement and teaches a collective community value system as an effective approach to helping high-risk youth.
