Sewak Sundargarh

SEWAK (Self Employed Worker's Association Kendra) in Odisha began during 1994-1998, under the leadership of Mr. Gopal Chandra Ojha, the then Youth Coordinator of NYK Sundargarh. During this time, thousands of youth clubs were established across the district, sparking a powerful Youth Movement. In parallel, SEWAK was also founded under the guidance of NYK and officially registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860. Many of SEWAK's members were former National Service Volunteers (NSVs) and youth leaders from various areas in the district. The organization set up its headquarters on a two-acre land in Rangiamunda village, Tangarpali block, Sundargarh district, Odisha. The contribution of the then Collector and District Magistrate, Mrs. Alka Panda (IAS), and PD - DRDA, Mr. Saroj Jha (IAS), played a vital role in the growth of this youth movement. Their support resulted in the sanctioning of numerous Skill Training Programs, Indira Awas, and Million Wells projects, all run by youth organizations within the district. Thanks to the hard work of the youth fraternity, SEWAK received recognition and awards at the district, state, and national levels. As of 2023, SEWAK has expanded its operations to 09 districts in Odisha. With an annual financial transaction of Rs. 15 Crores, it stands as one of the largest organizations in the state. The organization now employs over 300 staff members, engaged in various Livelihood, Health, and Climate-related projects. Over the years, SEWAK has made a significant impact on the lives of thousands of vulnerable individuals and communities.
