Shanahan Mechanical and Electrical (SME), originally opened its doors to customers in 1958 as family-run business by brothers Tom and Marvin Shanahan of Valparaiso, Nebraska. Work grew to turn part-time help into a dedicated employee workforce. IES Electrical acquired SME in 2015. Today, SME is one of the largest mechanical and electrical contractors in the Midwest, owing its success to the hard working, quality workmanship of their loyal team members and the leadership of its president, Nate Tate. SME specializes in electrical and mechanical solutions for market segments that include sport facilities, institutional, governmental, pharmaceutical, and data communications.
