Executive Summary Shasyaz (Little Grizzly) Contracting Ltd is a road building/road maintenance/site leveling contractor located in the remote community of Fort St. James, BC. It is an indigenous owned company, and part of Takla Lake First Nation Band. Shasyaz specializes in supporting the mineral exploration and logging industries in northern British Columbia and surrounding areas. Formally incorporated in January 2020, the company is owned by Ludwig “Wasi” Lepka, a long-time resident of the area. Wasi grew up around heavy equipment. He was trained by his father, Burkhard Lepka (Lepka Holdings LTD). Burkhard established himself as a well-known local contractor in the early 1980’s, and as a result, Wasi was operating bulldozers/excavators long before he could legally drive a passenger vehicle. Wasi began his career in support of his father’s company, Lepka Holdings Ltd. Since then, he has worked in high-traffic, urban environments that required strict attention to detail. He has also worked in the rugged backcountry of northern BC, where resourcefulness and practical know-how can often mean the difference between life and death. After working for several years for other local regional contractors (Hat Lake Logging, Shelara Holdings, Newland Enterprises, and Takla Lake First Nation), Wasi decided to venture out and start his own company, Shasyaz Contracting LTD, which is now embarking on its own journey. It is intent on building Wasi's reputation as a dependable contractor, who is willing to work in remote locations of northern BC, where few others are willing to venture. Wasi has 25 years of experience working in remote settings where rigorous environmental oversights apply. He has worked in urban settings as well, which require strict attention to overhead and underground hazards, as well as finishing grade. Business Structure and Background Shasyaz Contracting Ltd was incorporated January of 2020, in the Province of British Columbia.
