Shining Light Galway

Shining Light is a not-for-profit (soon to be charitable) organisation, founded in 2020, working with up to 977 asylum seekers within Galway City. We are a group of committed local residents who have come together to provide voluntary assistance to minority groups affected by poverty, particularly people living in Direct Provision. We are tackling issues through direct actions such as the delivery of food rescued from waste (on a daily basis), redistribution of unwanted furniture items, free books and educational resources for children, support with mental health needs and any other type of advice or assistance we can provide to marginalised people. How we help: Delivery of food donated by local Galway retailers. Collection and delivery of clothing and other items by the local community Free tutoring in basic English and mathematics. Help accessing other vital services, and a supportive community to help people in whatever way we can.
