SHIPinSPACE was originally born as a UK Space Company operating in the Space Tourism business. The objectives of the Company are to provide access to Space to the Medium class made up by real Space passionates for a ticket price 1/5th that of other Competitors, down to $50k. The road map is- Validate a 44 Passengers + 4 P/L's Sub-Orbital Engineering Model based on the decoupling structures technology belonging to the Company with high-level mechanical tests- The Passenger Module structural mass of as low as 10.3 Tons for 44 Passengers equivalent to a P/L of over 3.8 metric tons represents by far the lowest mass budget ever for a manned Spacecraft with such a capacity. This goal can be reached only by using the decoupling structures technology- The vehicle that is undergoing a Phase B has accomplished a detailed static and dynamic FEM analysis on the Passenger Module that has fully demonstrated the low level of stress encountered by using the decoupling structures technology. A CFD-based aerodynamic study has permitted to analyse and validate the external shape of the SiS vehicle - Provide a take-off simulator able to train Passengers in 1 year time. The goal is to apply a $5M business plan for which private Investors are needed. More recently the Company has also focused on the design of a Lunar Base Launcher and a low-cost Launcher to LEO with an Airframe based on decoupling structures technology and Payoads accommodated inside the Fairing using Air-bags, thus eliminating the mechanical I/Fs. The SiS argument is that it is much less expensive to develop a Launcher based on one single booster made recurrent many times than developing, say, 3 stages different one another, especially when a major number of them can be made reusable. The innovative architecture introduced by SiS starts from the idea that the Fairing can be used as primary structure of the Launcher and not be simply a mere passive aerodynamic shield, with a section diameter large enough to directly attach to it 10 radial boosters. This configuration permits to use the radial boosters as 1st and 2nd stage. The 3rd stage is provided by an 11th booster attached in the bottom part to the Fairing via a conical adaptor. This architecture uses then the central booster as 3rd stage and not as normally happens as 1st stage. Because the boosters/engines are all the same the development costs are certainly a fraction of all past and current Launchers using a traditional vertical stack-up configuration.
