The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Chapter of the University of South Florida (SHPE USF) was founded in January 1992 by a group of Hispanic engineering students with the vision of creating an organization that would unite the Hispanics with engineering aspiration. Our mission, since then, has been to empower all of our members to realize their fullest potential and impact the world through STEM while also impacting the world through STEM awareness, access, support, and development. SHPE's vision is a world where Hispanics are highly valued and influential as the leading innovators, scientists, mathematicians and engineers. Our objective is to integrate each and every member into our Five SHPE Pillars: Professionalism, Academic Excellence, Community Outreach, Leadership, and Chapter Development.
