Shujaaz is Kenya’s largest and most trusted youth community, reaching over 84% of 15–24-year-olds nationwide. We connect this community with the knowledge, self-belief, inspiration and opportunities they need to create the future they want — and the support to make it happen. We believe this generation of young people can transform global society for the better. But right now, a lot stands in their way — restrictive social norms, economic exclusion, disempowering narratives, and a lack of access to key services and networks. Shujaaz works to break down these barriers so young people can take control of their futures. And we do this through: 1) THE BRAIN: One AI system fed by 16+ years of youth insights and real-time data from media, chatbots, nationwide surveys and community networks. 2) Mass storytelling via TV, comic books, digital media. 3) A nationwide network of young leaders (Shujaaz SuperFans) who research, create, engage and activate on the ground. 4) AI powered brand-powered chatbots that connect young people directly to the services and knowledge they need. WE ARE PLAYER FIRST Our duty is to our audience – to serve our players first. We design everything alongside young people because often they already know the best solutions to the challenges they face. Our work is to amplify what they are already doing. They are the heroes — the Shujaaz — of our stories. WE BELIEVE IN THE SUPERPOWER OF STORY Our storytelling is made of relatable fictional characters, real-world peers and community members. Our audience sees themselves in them. It creates a safe space to explore taboo issues, helps young people visualise action and outcomes, and makes new behaviours feel achievable. WE BUILD BRAND LOVE & TRUST Shujaaz is trusted by a generation of Kenyans. For over 16 years, we’ve grown with our audience, from comic books and radio to chatbots and TikTok. We are not a one-off intervention but a 'reliable constant' in young people's lives.
