Sierra Foothill Conservancy

Sierra Foothill Conservancy is a 501C3 land trust serving the central Sierra Nevada region of California including Fresno, Madera, Mariposa, and Eastern Merced Counties. SFC has protected over acres of natural lands by purchasing properties for nature preserves, partnering with land owners to help them protect their lands, and working with public agencies. SFC owns and manages ten wildlife preserves totaling acres, and has protected another acres of ranchlands and working forests in the form of conservation easements. A membership of over support SFC's work which is conducted by staff based in eastern Fresno county and Mariposa county. SFC is governed by a 12 member Board of Directors. SFC is an accredited member of The Land Trust Alliance, California Council of Land Trusts, Sierra Cascade Land Trust Council, and Sierra Consortium. Highlighted Projects: 2009-2010: The Foothills En Plein Air 2011: Sierra Lands Beef 2012: Expansion of Black Mtn Preserve with 2,500 acres of conservation Easements 2013: Establishment of Stockton Creek Preserve: Mariposa 2017-2020: Forest restoration of more than acres 2020: Hornitos Ranch Conservation Easement acres on the Merced River SFC's mission: The grasslands, foothills, and forests between Yosemite and Kings Canyon National Parks provide land for farms and ranches, a home for native plants and wildlife, and a source of clean water. The Sierra Foothill Conservancy honors our natural and cultural heritage by protecting these resources and ensuring that present and future generations will continue to experience and enjoy the land in this region.
