The dawn of the new millennium marked a new awakening among the progressive cardamom growers of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, thirteen among them very dear and near, put their heads together and had a lively discussion about expanding further the growing market. The union of mind culminated in the formation of a company at a moderate scale. The idea germinated South Indian Green Cardamom Company to start a venture and to run it efficiently. Good inputs were received from a renowned Civil Service Officer Mr.Cyriac P. C. IAS, a friend philosopher and guide. His vast, wide, rich and ripe experience helped the company a lot. The company registered on 25th April 2006 and auction was permitted from 1st September 2008. The company mainly aims at promoting and widening the market base of the product. It believes that such an effort will popularize the cardamom among people both rich and poor. In the beginning, the company started selling small quantities of cardamom packets, at affordable price. The most unique feature of the company is that it is the only company found, managed and run by the cardamom growers. So far, over 1200 small cardamom growers have subscribed to the share capital of SIGCC LTD.
