Sigma Clermont

Located on the Clermont-Ferrand science campus, SIGMA Clermont, resulting from the merger of ENSCCF* and IFMA*, is a unique alliance of chemistry and mechanical engineering. The school enjoys the close collaboration of the SIGMA Foundation, composed of industrial groups such as Michelin, Sanofi and Renault, as well as SMEs and innovative start-ups. Through its financial support and its commitment to high-quality training responding to real industrial needs, the Foundation represents one of SIGMA Clermont’s principal strengths. The school also benefits from its membership of a large network of schools, as an associate school within the Mines-Telecom Institute, and also as a member of the Gay Lussac Federation. SIGMA also offers an Integrated Preparatory Class programme, specialising in chemistry, which enables students to apply to the 20 Federation member schools. All this means that SIGMA Clermont’s students gain scientific expertise and professional and international experience which are indispensable to their future careers. Students choose from two main orientations, specialising in either mechanical engineering (full-time or sandwich course) or chemistry. Their training is complemented by a wide range of extra-curricular clubs and societies, enabling each student to develop his/her communication and project management skills and teamwork qualities. Strongly implicated in scientific research through its collaborations with CNRS and university laboratories, SIGMA Clermont is at the cutting edge of innovation. It is, for example, the only school in France equipped with an instrumented chemical reactor featuring a predictive control system, or a 3200m² technology transfer centre containing numerous industrial robots, CNC machines, 3D printers and a Fablab. Situated in the heart of the Auvergne, the school’s environment is ideal for all sorts of activities, from air sports to hiking in the Volcano national park to skiing in winter.
