SilkIt is a biotech company that specializes in biomaterials derived primarily from silk. Our breakthrough lies in a straightforward method for extracting fibroin (the silk protein) from silk cocoons. The extracted fibroin not only retains enhanced fiber mechanics and stability but also allows us to obtain highly pure, soluble silk protein at elevated concentrations. Remarkably, its rheological properties closely resemble those of the native silk feedstock stored within the silkworm gland. SilkIt’s ultimate mission is to create silk-based materials for medical and cosmetics applications.
