Sinag is a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance and economic empowerment to disadvantaged college students in the Philippines, so that they can fulfill the quintessential dream of every young Filipino: to graduate from school and make bigger accomplishments for themselves and their families. Funding dreams of financially challenged youth, Sinag offers a 0% student loan program that solely relies on the organizers' own resources, sponsorship and donations. Sinag, which means "ray of light in the Philippine language, was founded in 2013 by seven alumni of the University of the Philippines, after being moved by the tragic story of a college student who took her own life due to financial constraints that forced her to drop out of school. The organization then aspires to be a building block to a more luminous future; one where it is easier for students to achieve their dreams and spread their light to their family, community, and country.
