Over the past 15 years, Sisters Grimm has created original productions that have captivated millions around the world. At the heart of the company is Ella Spira MBE, a Grammy-nominated composer, visual artist, and award-winning theatre producer. Ella’s paintings capture the essence of nature and human interaction with the environment, representing both a celebration and a preservation of these landscapes. She has painted scenes in situ across diverse locations including China, Indonesia, Lapland, Brazil, South Africa, and Hawaii, using her art to promote respect for nature and raise awareness of environmental issues. Collaboration is central to Sisters Grimm’s approach. By working with a diverse range of artists and partners, they create experiences that offer fresh perspectives on global cultures, nature, and mental health. Pietra De Mello-Pittman, a former Royal Ballet ballerina and co-founder, complements Ella’s vision with her expertise in creative production, ensuring a captivating blend of art and storytelling. Diversity and accessibility are core values at Sisters Grimm, reflected in their youth engagement programs that run alongside their artistic productions. The Sisters Grimm Charitable Trust was established to deliver educational art activities that complement their award-winning shows. One of their most acclaimed productions, INALA, co-created by Ella Spira and Ladysmith Black Mambazo, achieved global success, including a Grammy nomination. The show has featured world-class performers such as Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Soweto Gospel Choir, and dancers from the Royal Ballet and Rambert. INALA has performed in prestigious venues like the Royal Albert Hall, Marina Bay Sands, and the West End, marking a milestone with a Royal Albert Hall performance on World Ballet Day and Black History Month.
