Skyward Experimental Rocketry

Skyward Experimental Rocketry is the first association of the Polytechnic University of Milan that designs and launches sounding rockets. Founded in 2012, our team achieves its goals and completes its projects by synergizing the know-how and abilities of students of all age groups and academic courses. In 2021 we successfully rebranded ourselves as we took part in the European Rocketry Challenge (EuRoC), a competition organized by the Portuguese Air Summit, and launched our latest project Lynx, winning the Flight Performance and Team Effort Awards, ranking second in the overall ranking. In October 2022 we took part in EuRoC with our new rocket, Pyxis, winning the overall ranking. In October 2023 we took part once again in EuRoC with Gemini, the first rocket of the association with an hybrid propulsion system. We launched at our usual test launch in Roccaraso, and at EuRoC we won the Technical Award. At EuRoC 2024 we brought Lyra, a rocket that symbolizes Skyward’s determination and resilience. Always for the 3K hybrid category, we managed to win the first overall prize for the second time along with the Flight Award prize for the 3km Hybrid category. Finally, we just came back from EuRoC 2025, where we launched Orion, the brand new hybrid rocket with integrated pressurization. We attempted twice our launch and achieved one of the best results in the history of Skyward, reaching 2990.6m, with a gap from 3km of only 10 meters. We won the third prize overall along with the Design Award.
