Our mission at Sleep Better Indy is to decrease the toll of untreated sleep apnea and snoring my increasing awareness of the problems and consequences and to facilitate the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of these problems. My work in Dental Sleep Medicine includes: 1) Screening and education for all my dental patients when they visit the office to identify those at risk for Sleep-related Disordered Breathing including snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea. 2) Free consultations for individuals who think they may be at risk. 3) Community education programs to increase awareness and identify resources. 4) Working with local physicians to screen their patients and providing information about the role on dental oral appliances as an option for treating OSA and snoring. 5) For those at risk my staff helps them move through the process of being evaluated and diagnosed. Once diagnosed, I then provide treatment for those referred to me by their physician for treatment with Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT). 6) Accept referrals from Sleep Specialist, other medical professionals, and other dentists for patients who want to use Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT) to treat their sleep problems. Dental Oral Appliances are proven to be effective in treating mild to moderate Obstructive Sleep Apnea and snoring and should be offered to those who prefer an alternative therapy over C-PAP therapy. Oral Appliances can also be successful for treating severe OSA for those who cannot tolerate CPAP therapy.
