SMB & R is a multi-disciplinary firm offering architecture, structural engineering, and interior design services for projects throughout Central Pennsylvania, including: Commercial renovation, addition, and improvement projects, space planning, interior design and finish selection, and tenant fit-outs for corporations and property managers. Retrofitting new safety equipment or access structures into an existing plant, or designing building modifications that will allow installation of new process machinery for industrial clients in the food and beverage, automotive and transportation, industrial services, fuel and energy, and entertainment industries. Design and construction administration for public works projects, including familiarity with the procedures associated with prevailing wage and publicly bid projects. Renovation and improvements at higher education institutions, where construction schedules must be carefully planned to synchronize with academic schedules, and facilities must remain in use throughout the work. Evaluation of existing conditions and context when adapting or modifying old buildings for new uses. Our adaptive reuse projects begin with an assessment of the facility's strengths and weaknesses, as well as its historical or local significance, and progress through an exploration of the ways that modern amenities and services can be added to give it new life.
