We can’t wait to see the changes in your face and your life. About Our Doctors: Dr. Smith spent years studying to become an orthodontist. As a committed student, he remained at the top of his class throughout his undergraduate and graduate careers. After completing dental school, Dr. Smith went on to serve in the Navy for four years, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Dr. Smith received his B.S. in Biology from UNC Chapel Hill and went on to complete his DDS at the Medical University of South Carolina. He returned to UNC Chapel Hill where he achieved his MS in Orthodontics. Dr. Smith serves as LCDR US Navy Dental Corp. as the head of the Orthodontic department at the Portsmouth Naval Medical Center in Virginia. He has served as the president of the Durham Orange Dental Society and the Triangle Dental Study Club and has been a invited lecturer to numerous local study clubs, groups and dental teams. Dr. Heymann graduated from Chapel Hill High School and pursued his undergraduate education at UNC-Chapel Hill, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in biology. He went on to attend the UNC School of Dentistry, from which he graduated with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the top of his class in 2005. Dr. Heymann remained at UNC for his specialty training in orthodontics, where he received the Andrew McArthur Brooks Fellowship, as well as earned a Master of Science and an orthodontic certificate from one of the most well-respected orthodontic programs in the world.
