Snehalaya Official

Snehalaya (meaning “Home of Love”) is a not-for-profit organization which provides support for women, children and LGBT communities, who have been affected by HIV and AIDS, trafficking, sexual violence or poverty. Snehalaya was founded by Dr. Girish Kulkarni in Ahmednagar, India, in 1989. Our projects target four prime areas: Awareness, Healthcare, Rehabilitation and Education. In 2014, Snehalaya UK was founded to support the vital work of Snehalaya India. The UK branch is run entirely by volunteers. The vision behind Snehalaya is to develop the awareness and capabilities of individuals who have been deprived of their fundamental rights as a result of inequalities in Indian society, as well as to bring equality for all through education. In doing so, our aim is to become a model example of a best practice grassroots NGO that can be replicated across India. Snehalaya serves over beneficiaries each year.
