Even though palm oil is the most efficient crop per hector land and used in almost 50% of all packaged products, it is still challenged with deforestation, loss of biodiversity, labour rights. Changing to other oil crops would not solve the challenge as they would need at least 4-10 times more land than palm. SNL BioSolutions is enabling sustainable and scalable innovation to solve this issue. SNL has developed an innovative technology platform to make precision fermentation-based oils that can be produced at scale and prevent deforestation. The oil produced using SNL’s technology could be used in many products from food ingredients, cosmetics, fragrance, home care to even biofuels like sustainable aviation fuel.
