The foundation aims to bring to public attention the former Sobibor extermination camp and to preserve the memory of all those deported to Sobibor, with special attention to the 34,313 Jews who were deported from Westerbork in 19 transports to the Sobibor extermination camp in Poland during World War II in the period March 2, 1943 to July 20, 1943, and were murdered there, or in the surrounding area.
