Today more than ever companies need to stand for something and findings are consistently showing this, Cone Communications has found: 95% of global consumers have a more positive image of a company if it supports a social issue, while 91% would switch brands to one that supports a good cause if price and quality were the same 82% of millennials (aged 18-34yrs) want companies to tell them how they are making the world a better place, 90% would stop buying from a company if it were socially irresponsible While the Edelman Trust Barometer (2016) shows: 77% of Australians would like companies to share their values and lead to solve societal problems Brands already leading the way with their values and thriving are. BEN & JERRY'S All their marketing and PR creates awareness for important issues like the ‘Lick Global Warming Campaign’ that educates people on how to reduce their carbon dioxide emissions. They also source products responsibly buying brownies from a bakery that employs former homeless people. The brand has been so successful that Unilever bought it for $326million. TOMS SHOES Toms has been a global success with its ‘one for one’ business model where every pair of shoes purchased a one pair is donated to a child in need. Since 2006 TOMS has given away 35 million pairs of shoes and gained millions of dollars in free publicity. Just last year a private equity firm bought a 50c stake in the company valued at $625 million.
