Social Pharmacy
Every year millions of dollars’ worth of medicine is dumped as it was beyond its use by date. Expired medicine, dumped with domestic garbage, has a significant impact on environmental pollution as well as drinking water resources. We may have bought medicine as a precaution, or we may have excess availability post using what we needed. In both cases, it is likely to end up being unused and is disposed off, as it reaches its expiry date. Through MediSahyog, we wish to create social channels for exchange of medicines within local communities. This shall not only ensure that those who need such medicine the most have immediate access from others in their neighborhood, but also help reduce wastage. Any excess capacity available with residents of a society can also be useful for the staff and domestic help. In-case the medicines are nearing the use by date, we can also help route them to NGO’s which may help make them available to recipients who have need for consumption within the medicines effective use date.
