Softstory

SoftStory is a soft-furnishings brand focusing on circular textile and sustainability. Soft furnishings designed by using upcycled, repurposed fabric can be exclusive and unique. They are equally or much more special creations. By doing so we want to increase the shelf life of the existing fabrics and delay the time that it goes to the landfill. We want to use our ability, skill and design sense to help artisans and NGOs to clear their existing and not so perfect stock of fabrics which are rich with stories. We want to tell the same story to people and change the notion that repurposing is not substandard. It is our mission to engage and help the crafts to sustain, survive and thrive. We want to feed their looms with work. We want to be a channel through which we take their products to a larger mass, by telling interesting stories that they have woven with their own hands. Our brand is centered around the motto that we will use what is existing. We try not to create more unless it needs to be done to feed a loom of a weaver, Not all weavers are good at selling. Many times they have excess stock which is lying unsold. They have stock that is little damaged due to poor storage conditions. We help them unblock their finances and buy the material at fair prices that they quote. There are lots of NGOs which work silently and are doing amazing work in remote regions of different states in India. We are connected to some of these NGOs who teach women to weave and dye fabrics. In the process there are fabrics which have weaving defects and dyeing defects. They are not sellable. We buy the stock so that the NGO can continue their good work of uplifting the community and educating children. We gladly use these flaws, add different surface and stitching techniques and create beautiful soft furnishings. We try to do our best in terms of creating a circular textile chain for soft furnishings and focus on sustainability in soft furnishings, in our own way.
