Sofv Nijmegen

Founded in 1991, SOFv (Samenwerkingsoverleg Faculteitsverenigingen) is the umbrella organisation in which the study associations of Radboud University Nijmegen are united. The SOFv is an association whose members are study-oriented organisations representing all faculties, with a board consisting of students from different fields of study. First of all, SOFv has a representative function, that is, representing members - the study associations - at different levels: at association level, but also at, for example, the level of the University Student Council or the Executive Board. In the Student Council, SOFv holds its own seat, which means that with an appointed member in the council, the study associations are continuously represented at university level and thus allowed to co-decide on matters of interest to the associations. Secondly, an information function exists. In various ways, we preserve and share existing knowledge and experience that the individual associations have and also pass it on to new generations of board members. Thirdly, the SOFv board tries to coordinate the various activities of the members by offering an information moment on these activities at the GMA. Finally, within our umbrella organisation, we strive to improve relations between member organisations. SOFv organises a General Members Assembly about every five weeks to talk with their members about the state of affairs within the USC, governance issues and to discuss topics relevant to associations. In addition, speakers may be invited for the GMAs. These are free to attend, but only members have voting and speaking rights.
