Solarpunk Manifesto is a podcast on radical hope and imagination, where we invite leading thinkers, artists, and activists to collectively explore alternative futures. Our reality resembles too closely the dystopian worlds that cyberpunk has been warning us about since the 80s. Alarmist and (post)apocalyptic narratives predominate popular media. While we must continue to shed light on the violence and injustices of our world, it cannot be at the cost of our hope for better futures. Hope has been taken away from us, leaving our generation in states of despair and apathy. It’s about time we reclaim it! What’s solarpunk It’s a movement in speculative fiction, art, fashion, and activism that asks: what do sustainable civilizations look(ed) like and how can we get there? 🫧Originating as an aesthetic on Tumblr in the early solarpunk aims to transcend capitalism, extractivism and oppression. A world where humans feel as part of nature and use their ingenuosity to build systems of care, collaboration and regeneration.
