Sompower Co. is the largest electric utility in Somaliland, responsible for the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity and the development of electric power projects like rehabilitation and upgrading of hargeisa network, solar project and coal projects. Sompower is responsible for 60% of Somaliland electricity production and it is member of Somaliland electric association. The Company’s key mandate is to plan for sufficient electricity generation and transmission capacity to meet demand; building and maintaining the power distribution and transmission network and retailing of electricity to its customers.
