Sonia Green Technology
SONIA Green Technology is a climate tech start-up in the asphalt industry, founded in 2022 and based in Sydney, Australia. SONIA’s patented technology originated from the doctoral research of Dr. Niousha Haji Seyed Javadi and Dr. Soheil Heydari at the University of New South Wales. They developed a technology to produce polymer-modified bitumen (PMB) in pellet form. Unlike conventional liquid PMB, which requires high energy for transport and storage, SONIA PMBs are stored at ambient temperatures, significantly saving energy and costs. This innovation simplifies transportation, making it accessible to remote areas. SONIA PMBs allow asphalt companies to have PMB available anywhere, in any quantity, at any time. SONIA PMBs can be blended with bitumen in bitumen tankers/sprayers or added directly into asphalt plants, resulting in a final asphalt or spray seal product that performs identically to traditional polymer-modified asphalt or spray seal.
