Sono Unica

Through many of the last decades Sweden has been one of the leaders in the music business with internationally known artists, songwriters and producers. Especially in the electronic dance music (EDM) scene Sweden has since long been one of the of the leading countries when it comes to artists and producers. Despite this, Sweden does not stick out on the EDM map. Our artists are sent abroad, the clubs play the same music and the experience is mostly the same no matter where you go. Unlike cities like London, Berlin and Ibiza where the market is well established and offers a smorgasbord of clubbing experience - Sweden, and especially Stockholm, does not even compete in the same league. The number of well educated young adults that travel abroad to these cities increase every year. There is a huge potential in offering something unique to this audience. In later years there have been more and more attempts to reach this audience - where one of the greatest examples being the establishment of the international Sónar festival in Stockholm. Sono Unica is a musical concept that was started to capitalize on this gap and - as the name suggests - bring something unique to the Nordic market. Until the summer of 2013 SONO UNICA was purely a bi-weekly podcast that presented DJs and artists that fit this goal. In the summer of 2013 the SONO UNICA went through a conceptual expansion and it’s core crew grew in size to eleven similar-minded persons.
