Sophie Van Bree

I'm Sophie van Bree (born 1995), a documentary filmmaker and director based in the Netherlands and Scotland. My life revolves around storytelling: telling, capturing, and feeling. Besides work, I make music, dance, write, take photos, enjoy traveling, and explore nature as much as possible. I'm fascinated by the gap between someone's external world and what's going on inside, and all that isn't visible. I often focus on sensitive and relatable themes in society, such as mental health and the vulnerabilities of being human. With a strong sense of story, an ethical approach, my love of writing, international experience in storytelling and a cinematic approach, I create intimate, layered films and other media that open conversations.
